“I can’t remember the plot of the movie I saw last week, let alone what kind of sandwich I had for lunch yesterday. Yet I can recall exactly the feeling of hiking through the fog over the trail on Pemetic Mountain, the blue of the ice caves on the Franz Josef glacier and even the way the setting sun colors the Huron River shoreline as I canoed past. This is why I paint, and why I paint what I paint. To fall in love again – hard – with things and places so beautiful they make me forget to breathe.”
