January monthly jury:

Our next monthly jury is in January 2022; close date is Friday, January 21, 5pm. Be sure to get your image to Gail Churchill on time.

Submissions needed for Painterly, our annual spring exhibit, March 3-31.

Painterly will be a juried show of our members’ work held at the Plymouth Community Arts Council, so please start thinking about what you want to submit now and getting your work framed, etc. Full details are on the prospectus here.

  1. All submissions will be juried and judged at our in-person meeting on February 22.
  2. Entry fee is $25. Bring a check to the meeting and give it to Jan Gongloff. You may submit up to three pieces. Remember to attach the info tag provided on the prospectus on the back of each of your pieces.
  3. All work must be brought to the February meeting ready to hang/exhibit. That means wired for hanging (no sawtooths), and either framed or sides painted/no staples.
  4. Please take digital photos of your artwork before bringing them to the meeting. They are needed by the Plymouth Community Arts Council for promotion of the show, and we’d like to put as many as possible on our website, too. Photos of your accepted works should be sent to Gail Churchill after the Feb. 22nd meeting.
  5. All accepted pieces will be taken from the meeting by Lisa for the installation at PCAC the following week, so you don’t have to make an extra trip to deliver your artwork.
  6. All non-accepted pieces must be taken home by the artist after the meeting.
  7. Juror will be Nobuko Yamasaki, who will discuss the award-winning works she selected for Painterly as our February presentation.
  8. Non-sold pieces from our holiday exhibit at Kickstart will be returned to you at the February meeting. (Members whose work was held over will make their own pickup arrangements with Duane at Kickstart.)
  9. Due to the many artworks that will be on-site at this meeting from our past and upcoming shows, we are suspending the art supply/book fundraising sales until our March meeting.
  10. For February only, the in-person jury of our work for Painterly will replace our monthly jury.

Our holiday show was at Kickstart Gallery,  which held over some pieces from the show and is also having a solo show by our own Rose Marie Starke this month. If you have any thoughts or suggestions for future venues, please email Exhibition Director Gail Churchill (consult your membership doc for her email) or send an email here.

“Fresh!,” Spring 2020 Exhibition

Sadly, this exhibit was supposed to be at the Farmington Hills Library, but was cancelled due to Covid 19. However, the work still happened, and you can see it here. Kudos to all who buckled down and created work for this exhibit. Some lovely work in here. Thanks also to Exhibition Director Gail Churchill and President Lisa Richter, who put a lot of work into planning this exhibit.

The 2019 Palette and Brush Fall Exhibition, Oct. 19 -Nov. 6, 2019

In our first show in Dearborn in over a decade, the Palette and Brush Club of Southeast Michigan had its semi-annual exhibit at the Padzieski Art Gallery in Dearborn, part of the Dearborn Performing Arts Center. The large exhibit, judged by Mike Todoroff, featured an impressive 58 works in various media and genres. Twenty-two Detroit women artists participated, many of whom exhibit regionally and some, nationally. Some of the artwork is shown below. Many thanks to all who visited, and to our members who worked hard to facilitate the show. Thanks also to Ralph Valdez and the Padzieski Gallery for sponsoring.
